  Can you be Objective about the Watchtower Society's Literature?

  The problem with nearly all of the literature, it has underlying motives. Everything is said and done with the intent of getting one interested in becoming a JW.

  Even funeral talks are used for this purpose. When my father in law recently died, we discussed with my mother in law, that we'd like to have a fair amount of time spent on the kind of person he was, and some of his experiences. We timed it, 5 minutes tops were dedicated to him, the rest was about the JW ressurection hope. The out of town, non JW family were so very disappointed, they cried. The 5 minutes were discussing the obituary from the newspaper!

  Sorry, I got off the subject. I think anything that the WT produces should be read with care, as they have ulterior motives!

  What things in our world today don't have some kind of pagan origin? I think you could trace nearly everything back that it might have been used by pagans. Where did the pagan rituals get their origins?

  Do You Think That You Might Turn Back To Jehovah?

  i`ve never yet been snubbed by a jw.

  the reason is that i refuse point blank to speak to them unless they speak to me first.

  so, if i`m visiting my jw mum and jw visitors arrive which they often do i just smile, raise one eyebrow slightly, and look `em straight in the eye!.

  We make it plain, we've never left Jehovah, Jesus, the Bible or its true teachings, we've left an organization that has put themselves where only Jesus belongs, saying we can have salvation only thru association with them, and Jesus is our mediator, only thru them! It makes me angry every time I say that. It reminds me of the scripture in 2 Thess 2:4, where it says one would come and sit himself over everyone called god, sitting in the temple of God, publicly showing himself to be a god. The WT certainly has placed themselves where they absolutely do not belong!

  because, they inform us, only pagans celebrated birthdays per the bible and in each case a death occurs.

  let us examine the two passages they use to support their conclusions.

  Just found this recent reference regarding "pagan rituals" that might be ok now. Awake, 12/15/2005 p18. The article is about Russian Blini, more than just pancakes. According to the article, "the ancient Slavs used blini for food sacrifices in their pagan rituals and saw in blini an appropriate symbol of the round, warm, golden sun." The article then goes on to give the recipe, how to make them and serve them. If these were once used for pagan rituals, how can a JW possibly think it would be ok to eat them today? What about hot cross buns? If our motive in doing anything is not to use in wrong worship, or not to use as originally intended, what harm would there be? Just a thought.

Obviously, a Christian would not make use of wind chimes for such a purpose. So if there is such a superstitious belief in one’s country, or community, it would not be wise to have a wind chime in the home. Thus no one will be stumbled or given the impression that Jehovah’s Witnesses make use of wind chimes for some unscriptural purpose.—1 Cor. 10:31-33.

  However, if one’s motive in putting up a wind chime has nothing to do with false religion, superstition or demonism, and there is little possibility of others’ getting the wrong impression regarding its use in the home, it is a simple matter for personal decision."

  What then would be wrong with any celebration if the motive is not "pagan"?

  THE END IS NEAR

  with all the ridiculous hype amongst the dubs about how this new tract is going to help bring about "the end", i thought it would be beneficial to highlight how often they've been crying that the sky is falling in the last 1/2 century:.

  ***w50 2/15 p. 54" stick to your work"*** now is the time to live and work as christians, especially now, for the final end is near.

  The WT condems others for saying the "end is near" yet feels free to announce it themselves! They are so hypocritical. Reminds me of..."the sky is falling, the sky is falling".

  Maybe ask where the BIBLE says a person need to be in association with the Watchtower to have salvation? Or how is it JW's say they don't take blood, they pour it out on the ground so to speak, yet can take fractions, that come from many litres of stored blood? Where does the BIBLE make the distinction?

  Parents congregation disbanding

  my parents told me that the do has advised the cong that it's going to close due to there not being enough publishers in it (why didn't he just say people .

  it is a very small cong with about 35 people in it but they have enough elders and everyone was happy being in it.

  apart from being dubs they actually are a genuinely nice bunch of people and i feel a bit sorry for them having to get split up against their wishes.. the hall is split into two congs, with the other half having about 140 publishers, and i asked why they didn't just ask some from the other half to support theirs.

  Could this information help in anyway with the ongoing lawsuits against the WT. They say they have no "interests" so to speak in other states, but this would show they in fact do?

  Manual Notes in Pay Attention book

  i remember that someone (richie rich?

  ) scanned some pages of a used pay attention book that included manual notes about destroying all documents if a former molestor gets appointed as a servant.

  is this only in my imagination or has somebody saved this to his/her local drive?
